Kayaking with the Seals

Seal pup kayaking

September and October are seal pupping months off the West coast of Pembrokeshire, so when there was eventually a break in the weather towards the end of October we took advantage of it and ventured out with our favourite activity guides, Dragon Activites.

After having been provided with the full kit and safety briefing we ventured down to Solva harbour where we launched the kayaks.

We headed north as we left the harbour and hugged the coastline, exploring the nooks and crannies of the unspoilt coastline, which could only be truly appreciated from that angle, paddling into caves and past hidden beaches. It also helped that it was a stunning day and the tide was beautifully calm!

It was a full days activity, paddling for a couple of hours before stopping on a secluded beach to eat our sandwiches and then continuing North for another couple of hours before landing at Porthclais harbor near St. Davids, where we were picked up by the mini bus and driven back to the Dragon Activity centre.

We only saw one seal but that didn’t detract in any way from such an amazing day!
